You will have heard the words ‘ISDN switch off’ but what does it mean and what are the repercussions for your business? Putting all the jargon aside, you will no longer be able to make calls via your existing telephone system, because this is being turned off throughout the UK by 2025.
We know it’s only 2017, but in less than three years’ time ISDN lines will no longer be available for purchase. Also, remember that 2025 is when the switch off will be complete; it’s going to take effect before that in most cases.
The outcome is, you will either need to purchase a new system or purchase advanced software / hardware that will require integration into your existing system. Why, you ask? Because all calls will be taking place over an internet connection rather than the traditional phone lines, and the existing telephone systems are not equipped to do this.
When the ISDN switch off takes effect, the value of traditional telephone systems will plummet. Your telephone system still currently has some value, so it’s a great time to part exchange it. This will give you the opportunity to make significant savings on the new system you’ll need to invest in anyway. A client of ours used our part-exchange option, take a look at what they thought.
